How Much Rock Will I Need?

One ton of ¾” to 1” rock will cover 90 to 100 SQ FT at a 2” depth

One ton of ½” rock will cover 100 to 120 SQ FT at a 2” depth

What Decorative Rock Sizes Are Available?

Our most common sizes of decorative gravel are 1/2" inch and 1" inch.

Crushed rock comes in different grades depending on the percentage of “fines” in the mix.  

Fines are any bits of rock smaller than the size indicated.  So, for ¾ inch rock , for instance, fines would mean anything less than ¾ inch all the way down to dust.

Large Deliveries What Should I Expect?

Rock is delivered in the street in front of your house or your driveway. If you’d like the rock delivered in your backyard, your gate must be a minimum of 10 feet wide. Our dump truck will not be able to, go over soft grass, under trees, or over concrete patio or pool decking.

What Is The Difference Between Screened, Minus, & Washed Rock?

These are the grades you will typically see:

Minus:  This grade can contain up to 80% fines

Screened:  This means some of the fines have been sifted out, leaving perhaps 20%-40% fines in the batch.

PLEASE NOTE:  Wildcat only stocks screened and minus rock.  

How To Keep Weeds Out of Your Rock

There are few options for weed-prevention: 

Landscape Fabric – Black fabric layed down as a base before the rock is installed.

Pre or Post-Emergence Chemical- An environmentally safe spray that is sprayed on bare ground, deterring seeds from germinating. The spray does need to be re-applied depending on rain and drainage.
